Putting a profile picture on your WordPress blog can be a real headache, especially if it is the first time you use it. Having a blog is essential today for the development of your online marketing strategy, especially to attract users to your website. You must not forget that you are dealing with people, so identifying yourself with a profile image is a practice that will personalize and humanize communication.
As I mentioned in the post about the need to create an Inbound Marketing strategy, it is essential to strengthen emotional ties with users. Think about it, you know the face of the person you are talking to automatically builds trust. After all, the face is the mirror of the soul, right?
Step 1 – Access through the WordPress administration panel
In the menu of your WordPress blog select “Users” and then “Your profile”. In this section, look for the section “About you / Profile Picture”, which will put a message that says “You can change your profile picture in Gravatar.”
Gravatar is a website that allows you to upload a globally recognized avatar image, making it perfect for interacting with any blog connected to Gravatar. Among them is WordPress.
Step 2 – Sign up with Gravatar
After clicking on the “Register” button we will arrive at the Gravatar administration panel.
Step 3 – Login
Then the Gravatar administration panel will appear, where you have the option to log in if you already have a WordPress account, or create an account if you don’t have one yet. After filling in the fields, click on “Log In”.
Step 4 – Add your profile picture
Once in your Gravatar account, you will have the option to modify and fill in your profile data. However, the fastest way to put a profile image for your WordPress user is by clicking on “Add a new image”.
Step 5 – Choose the option to upload the image
On the next screen we must click on “Upload new” to add a new profile image to Gravatar, and consequently, to WordPress. You also have the option of uploading the image from a URL, using an existing photo or taking a photo with your webcam.
Step 6 – Confirm your image upload
If we select “Upload New” you will have to find the image you want to use on your computer and click “Next”.
Step 7 – Adjust the image dimensions
By default, Gravatar will adjust the dimensions of our profile image and show us the previews in different sizes. After cropping the image to our liking, click on “Crop and Finish!”
Paso 8 – Elige la clasificación de tu imagen
Okay, we already have our image, but now we just need to choose a rating for your Gravatar image. This classification is divided into 4 types:
- –G: This type of image means that it is suitable for viewing on any website. In principle this is the option you should select.
- –PG: this type of image means that your display may contain rude, provocative or slightly violent gestures.
- –R: This type of image means that your display contains profanity, explicit violence, nudity, or drug use.
- –X: This image type means that your display contains profanity, extreme explicit violence, or hardcore sexual images.
Step 9 – Confirm that everything has been done correctly
Congratulations! You already have a profile image for your WordPress blog and you can comment on other blogs to be recognized. Now you just have to wait 5-10 minutes for the changes to take effect.
